US Open 2016: Stan The Man Beats Novak For US Open Crown

#USOpen #Tennis 2016
#Mens #Singles Final

#StanWawrinka is the new #USOpen Champion.
In a grueling marathon final against World No. 1 #NovakDjokovic, he had to bring all his strength, courage, stamina and reserves to upstage the legend in 4 sets 6-7(1), 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 under the lit Arthur Ashe stadium in Flushing Meadows, New York.

After losing the first set to the defending champion in the tie-break, Stan broke Novak to take the second set and level the scores at 1 set a piece. The third set was another marathon until Stan managed to submit the champion into mistakes for a break of serve. 2-1 and everyone was getting ready for a thriller knowing very well about Novak's back-from-the-brink miracles in the past. However, it was not be. Stan was ready and poised to win his third grand slam and he duly subdued Djokovic to win the match in 4 sets.

This win puts Stan Wawrinka amongst the already growing tough club of men's tennis with Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray already slugging it out against each other on the tour. Great to see new faces especially when the old ones like Fedex and Rafa are beginning to fade away...

The loss ends a rather poor second half of the year for Novak after a brilliant first one.
Shock early loss at #Wimbledon, Early exit from the #Olympics and now this finals loss at #USOpen. He will have a lot to think about as players look ahead to year end championships and 2017.
