22nd Feb 2015

South African brilliance to the fore right at the start...

#ABDevilliers has just run #Rohit Sharma out with an absolute ripper of a #direct #hit from mid wicket. #India has to mind their running between wickets against SA. Otherwise they will hurt you badly.

Great start with some needle...
5 overs, 10 runs, 1 wicket.
Both teams jostling for pole position!

CWC 2015 - Aus v Ban - Washout in Pool A

#Australia v #Bangladesh, #Woolongabba (#GABBA), #Brisbane
21st Feb 2015

Australia's fears have come true.
They were praying for a full match (atleast a 20 over reduced game) against #minnows Bangladesh to take full points and most importantly much needed #match #practice for their #bench players. However #rain #gods didn't relent and the match was #abandoned without a #ball being bowled.

Both teams take a point each from the game.

Bangladesh smiling long :)

They now have to challenge and beat one of the other biggies in the group and dream for a #quarterfinal spot in tournament! (Looking at the way #England are playing and #SriLanka not in good touch either ... they can really look to spring a surprise in Pool A.

Pool A looks exciting now

#NewZealand - 3 matches - 6 points
#Australia - 2 matches - 3 points
#Bangladesh - 2 matches - 3 points
#England - 2 matches - 0 points (to be fair to them - they have run into the two top contenders (NZ and Aus) for this year's world cup in their first two games itself!)
#SriLanka - 1 match - 0 points

Another upset or a washout can dramatically alter scenario in this Pool now.

The #Aus and #NZ game at #Auckland in few days time gains crucial importance for leaderboard position in the Pool.

CWC 2015 LIVE - Aus v Ban Match Delayed Due To Rain

21st Feb 2015

Bad news from the GABBA.
There is a #raindelay in this match.
Match may start in a while and we'll keep you posted.

If the match does get washed away, Bangladesh will be the happiest lot.
They will steal one point from Australia and make Pool A very interesting !

CWC 2015 LIVE - Darren Bravo is Retired Hurt

#Pakistan v #WestIndies, #Christchurch
21 Feb 2015

#DarrenBravo, after getting a #diamondduck in the first game (out without facing a ball), was getting into his groove in this match. He was also getting lucky with Pak dropping a few catches.

However, he seemed to be injury prone all the way through.

First he received a throw flush on his #helmet by #ShahidAfridi, trying to run him out. Then he pulled up a #hamstring and had to be carried away off the ground.Looking good for his 49 but #retiredhurt at the wrong time. Could this be Pakistan's chance to come back?

CWC 2015 LIVE - Pakistan Dropping A Lot Of Catches

#Pakistan v #WestIndies, #Christchurch

Pakistan have arrived at the ground today with #butterfingers.
They have already #dropped four #catches!
If they have to harbour any chances of competing in the knockout stages, they have to improve big time... Currently, it looks pretty ordinary.

Catches dropped so far
 - #DwayneSmith dropped by #NasirKamshid
 - #MarlonSamuels dropped by #UmarAkmal
 - #MarlonSamuels dropped by #ShahidAfridi
 - #DarrenBravo dropped by #ShahidAfridi

CWC 2015 - Bowling‬ Comparison Technology

Another masterpiece technology (‪#‎NewZealand‬ is known for development of path breaking technology and software for sports and sportsmen)

This one compares two bowlers side by side for their speeds, actions, arm movements, stride difference, effectiveness, energy conserved/spent .... incredible really!

CWC 2015 - Dejected Barmy Army (England Fans)

You don't want to be an ‪#‎England‬ ‪#‎Cricket‬ ‪#‎Fan‬ today surely!!
After annihilation by ‪#‎NewZealand‬, England were left to lick their wounds and a huge gathering of the ‪#‎BarmyArmy‬ at the ‪#‎Westpac‬ stadium in‪#‎Wellington‬ was left stunned, dejected and depressed... Check some of these faces!
You really felt for them...

CWC 2015 - Biggest Match For England At The World Cup

#England v #NewZealand at #Wellington, 20th Feb 2015

Its been 32 years since England defeated New Zealand in a World Cup game.
That goes back to 1983 edition when they won a group match against the Kiwis.
Since then, they have been at the receiving end in 1992, 1996 and 2007.

Having lost to #Australia at the #MCG in their first game of the tournament, and pretty convincingly to say the least, the Englishmen have their task cut out. They have run into the other co-host of this tournament early in the competition, NZ are top form and their batting is on fire, the conditions will suit the home team and bowling looks equally balanced too. On the fielding front lets put both teams at par.

Given this situation, they have to really perform very well and win this game to entertain qualifying for the quarter finals with a high position in the group. Remember the lower you finish in your group, you would need to face a top team from the other!

England's batting seems to be their biggest problem at the moment. The bowlers are doing OK. Neither have they been able to chase well nor set competitive totals for their bowlers to defend.

#EoinMorgan needs to get his playing eleven and batting line-up sorted out immediately. #Ballance for #Bopara in the previous game was a good choice? Maybe .. maybe not!

#IanBell at the top needs to do bulk of the scoring to set foundation for an English win. #JamesTaylor seems to be the only one who is prepared to work it out and play a long innings. #Butler, #Root, Morgan all need to pull up their socks.

For the #Kiwis, their batting looks really solid.
#Mccullum and #Guptill at the top can be devastating. If not, #Williamson can dig deep and build the long innings. #RossTaylor, #CoreyAnderson and #LukeRonchi can tonk the ball all over the place if the game is in their zone! Very solid stuff this. This type of a lineup should score 300+ in almost every game unless they decide to throw things away (like they almost did in that game against #Scotland)

In the bowling department, its #JamesAnderson, #StuartBroad and #StevenFinn vs #TrentBoult, #AlanMilne, #TimSouthee and #KyleMills.

It all starts in a few hours at the #Westpac Staudium in #Hamilton...
May the best team win!

CWC 2015 - The Spidercam - Master Invention

Amazing #Spidercam !

This is one helluva invention at matches where the cam vrooms over the pitch and provides stunning top angle images of #cricket matches.

CWC 2015 - India v South Africa At The MCG on 22nd Feb 2015

‪#‎Ind‬ v ‪#‎Pak‬ done and dusted, India now take on ‪#‎SouthAfrica‬ in another scorcher of a league match on 22nd Feb 2015.

Another #SuperSunday in the offing for #cricket fans! ‪#‎CWC2015‬ ‪#‎India‬ v ‪#‎SA‬ (‪#‎Proteas‬) at the ‪#‎MCG‬
India are down 0-3 in head to head ties against #SA in ‪#‎CWC‬ tournaments.

Is this their
‪#‎Mauka‬ to set the equation straight?
1992 - lost by 8 wickets
1999 - lost by 4 wickets
2011 - lost by 2 wickets

CWC 2015 - Ind Beats Pak At Adelaide - Champions For India

Champions of #India's Historic win against #Pakistan at #Adelaide #CWC 2015

#Shikhar Dhawan - set the foundation with a un-Dhawan like innings - risk free and lot of patience. My man of the match really.

#Virat Kohli - got back into form and took to the Pak bowlers with usual disdain and touch of arrogance. Did most of the two chances he got.

#Suresh Raina - capitalized brilliantly on a solid platform and took the game away from Pak with his power hitting

#MS Dhoni - marshalled his troops well in this crunch game and on back of a some poor cricket over last three months. Press, media and supporters, including me, were gunning for his throat. His personal form is still a worry but this CWC needs Dhoni more as India captain than batsman.

CWC 2015 - Did England Lose Match At The Toss v Australia?

England won a great toss but chose to field. Did they lose the game there?

#EoinMorgan mentioned at the toss that he'd like to exploit overnight moisture at the #MCG early and inserted Australia in. Was it a fatal mistake? Big game, Tournament opener ... was it not a better idea to bat first and put runs on the board?

#GeorgeBailey was very happy to lose the toss and still get his choice - bat first. He mentioned the pitch would be great throughout and it did play true throughout the game.

Morgan's decision would have been vindicated greatly, if Aaron Finch would not have been dropped in the very first over on nought. He went on to make 135. Huge dent...

The specially minted #coin for the match toss is beautiful though.

CWC 20115 - Ind v Pak Starts In A Few Hours !! Super Exciting This

In a few hours from now, the biggest game of the competition (in terms of traditional rivalry and passion) gets underway at the Adelaide Oval in a Day/Night fixture.

#INDIA v #PAKISTAN

The sub continent giants collide very early in the tournament and am sure that will ignite, rather explode into a gala event!

India has never lost to Pakistan in a #CWC game.
See stats here...

On form Pakistan look a better side than India.
But, the occasion is such that its more about mental skills than cricketing ones that would decide the eventual winner. #MSDhoni holds an edge over his counterpart #MisbahUlHaq in that department.

All in all an exciting prospect and look forward to a great game of cricket.
Best of luck to both teams

CWC 2015 - Aussie "Mitch" Trio Demolishes England at MCG

The trio of three Mitchells - Starc, Johnson and Marsh run amok (claimed 9 of the 10 wickets to fall) at the MCG against a hapless and hopeless England batting order in their opening gam...e of the #CWC2015.

Chasing a mammoth 342, England collapsed to 231 all out.

The only wicket to fall to other than a Mitch was

Mitchell Starc 2 for 47
Mitchell Johnson 2 for 36
Mitchell Marsh 5 for 33
Run out - James Anderson

Man of the Match: #AaronFinch
