CWC 2015 - Bowl Tracking Technology

#CWC15

Bowl Tracking Technology at this World Cup is yet another fascinating innovation.
Used to track how the ball leaves the bowler's hands, pitches and reaches the batsman to determine areas of strengths/weaknesses of batsmen, projected trajectory of deliveries and bounce variations, this technology is really wowing the fans and cricketers alike.

Teams are using it to study opposition batsmen (strong and weak areas, lengths to bowl on different pitches, etc) while batsmen are using them to plot their aggression/defence against fast, seam and spin bowlers.

This is one piece of technology that will stay for while in cricket for sure.

CWC 2015 - Biggest Match For England At The World Cup

#England v #NewZealand at #Wellington, 20th Feb 2015

Its been 32 years since England defeated New Zealand in a World Cup game.
That goes back to 1983 edition when they won a group match against the Kiwis.
Since then, they have been at the receiving end in 1992, 1996 and 2007.

Having lost to #Australia at the #MCG in their first game of the tournament, and pretty convincingly to say the least, the Englishmen have their task cut out. They have run into the other co-host of this tournament early in the competition, NZ are top form and their batting is on fire, the conditions will suit the home team and bowling looks equally balanced too. On the fielding front lets put both teams at par.

Given this situation, they have to really perform very well and win this game to entertain qualifying for the quarter finals with a high position in the group. Remember the lower you finish in your group, you would need to face a top team from the other!

England's batting seems to be their biggest problem at the moment. The bowlers are doing OK. Neither have they been able to chase well nor set competitive totals for their bowlers to defend.

#EoinMorgan needs to get his playing eleven and batting line-up sorted out immediately. #Ballance for #Bopara in the previous game was a good choice? Maybe .. maybe not!

#IanBell at the top needs to do bulk of the scoring to set foundation for an English win. #JamesTaylor seems to be the only one who is prepared to work it out and play a long innings. #Butler, #Root, Morgan all need to pull up their socks.

For the #Kiwis, their batting looks really solid.
#Mccullum and #Guptill at the top can be devastating. If not, #Williamson can dig deep and build the long innings. #RossTaylor, #CoreyAnderson and #LukeRonchi can tonk the ball all over the place if the game is in their zone! Very solid stuff this. This type of a lineup should score 300+ in almost every game unless they decide to throw things away (like they almost did in that game against #Scotland)

In the bowling department, its #JamesAnderson, #StuartBroad and #StevenFinn vs #TrentBoult, #AlanMilne, #TimSouthee and #KyleMills.

It all starts in a few hours at the #Westpac Staudium in #Hamilton...
May the best team win!

CWC 2015 - Did England Lose Match At The Toss v Australia?

England won a great toss but chose to field. Did they lose the game there?

#EoinMorgan mentioned at the toss that he'd like to exploit overnight moisture at the #MCG early and inserted Australia in. Was it a fatal mistake? Big game, Tournament opener ... was it not a better idea to bat first and put runs on the board?

#GeorgeBailey was very happy to lose the toss and still get his choice - bat first. He mentioned the pitch would be great throughout and it did play true throughout the game.

Morgan's decision would have been vindicated greatly, if Aaron Finch would not have been dropped in the very first over on nought. He went on to make 135. Huge dent...

The specially minted #coin for the match toss is beautiful though.

CWC 2015 - Aussie "Mitch" Trio Demolishes England at MCG

The trio of three Mitchells - Starc, Johnson and Marsh run amok (claimed 9 of the 10 wickets to fall) at the MCG against a hapless and hopeless England batting order in their opening gam...e of the #CWC2015.

Chasing a mammoth 342, England collapsed to 231 all out.

The only wicket to fall to other than a Mitch was
#JamesAnderson run out at the end of their innings. #JamesTaylor played a valiant knock of 98 in vain.

Bowling Stats:
Mitchell Starc 2 for 47
Mitchell Johnson 2 for 36
Mitchell Marsh 5 for 33
Run out - James Anderson

Man of the Match: #AaronFinch

CWC 2015 - Mitchell Marsh 5-For Brakes England Chase Badly

#MitchellMarsh 5-For against #England.
Marsh is producing an amazing spell of seam bowling at the #MCG

His current figures read 8-0-20-5 .. simply amazing.

Another wicket in his next two overs and he may just snatch that man of the match award from #AaronFinch. Who would you give it to?

CWC 2015 - Steven Finn Takes First Hattrick

After getting thrashed all over the park, the #England bowlers had something to cheer about in their opening world cup game against #Australia at the #MCG.

#StevenFinn registered a #hattrick on the last three balls of the Aussie innings.

Wicket #1 - 49.4 overs - Brad Haddin c. Broad b.Finn 31 (14)
Wicket #2 - 49.5 overs - Glenn Maxwell c. Root b.Finn 66 (40)
Wicket #3 - 49.6 overs - Mitchell Johnson c. Anderson b.Finn 0 (1)

Finn finished his spell with 5 for 71 but not before being carted all over the place by the Australian batsman, especially Maxwell.

England need 343 to win this game. Big ask this!
