Will Sachin Tendulkar Be India's Next Coach?

If the grapevine is to be believed, #SachinTendulkar will be donning the coach's hat for Team India. He will presumably take charge, from the outgoing coach #DuncanFletcher, after the #IPL.

This is a massive news but should be taken with a pinch of salt.
We discuss some pros-cons of the #littlemaster taking coaching responsibilities for Indian cricket team:

Pros:
1. The legend himself. Been there, done that, knows everything about cricket. Will command huge respect from players.

2. Father figure for most (and he's played with most of them) and hence can push them to next level.

3. Astute learner of the game. Can guide players in tough situations, how to handle pressure situations.

4. Level headed will mean he will bring calm to the dressing room.

5. Has mentored players in the past, so should be able to take up this responsibility without too much trouble

Cons:
1. The legend himself. His stature is such, players may be in awe (especially budding ones looking to break into the team) and lose focus

2. Never been a great captain, so the mental side of man-management may be weaker (although with age he will be able to kind of manage on that front)

3. Players will find it difficult or uncomfortable to question him at times. This can lead to ugly undercurrents in future

4. Has to acknowledge that captain is boss on the field, coach off it.

5. Expects everyone to play with the same passion as him. Not possible..

All in all, interesting development but #BCCI needs to carefully think before passing on that coach mantle to him.

All the best Sachin!

CWC15 - Virat Kohli - Know Your Player

Virat likes to be in the center of things. Read More..
He likes to be admired and respected. If allowed to be in control of situations he will do wonders. He is an honest and well informed person others can safely rely on him for any kind of judgment. Love him or hate him you cannot ignore him.

Consciously or unconsciously he is committed to his game and wants to be the number one. His greatest challenge is self reliance. He needs to be confident and the way forward for him is to understand that as long as he relies on others for a sense of self worth he will not be in control of his life. He needs to go out and show his worth.

Luck is enhanced when he celebrates being who he is for only when he is comfortable with himself can he be confident in his skill and talents, attracting the luck and recognition he deserves.

If he is able to establish his sense of identity he will do tremendously well.

His Power Thought
“I am at the center of my world. What I think and feel matters”.

CWC15 - MS Dhoni - Know Your Player

MS Dhoni is remarkable. His destiny is powerful.
His soaring imagination will cause him to support projects that seem unfeasible and then surprises and confuses everyone by showing that they are indeed feasible. The key to achieve the impossible is their rare combination of imagination and fierce determination.

The greatest challenge for him is dealing with criticism or rejection, the way forward for him is to take on board what is being said and learn from it. Criticism and rejection are simply stepping stones on the way to success.

He has to toughen up emotionally become more objective and realistic in his approach to the game play. He is truly ingenious and creative.

His luck maker is when he confronts something bigger and tougher than him the tough gets going if he trusts his intuitions he is in for a bigger role and happenings in life.

His Power Thought
‘”From now on I will look at every obstacle as an opportunity.”

CWC 2015 - Is Dhoni The Best Finisher In Cricket Ever?

#MSDhoni has pulled a rabbit out the hat once again!
This time in a crunch run chase vs #WestIndies at #WACA, #Perth in the ongoing #CWC15.

Wobbling at 107 for 5 and needing 75 runs to win with the untested lower order with him, he once again showed why he is the most feared and respected batsman in run chases. The calmness and methodology implemented seems to win him games as if it was a foregone conclusion!

It may be tight run chase with run pressure (v Aus at the Gabba in 2011, v Sri Lanka at Jamaica in a tri series final in 2013 and so many games) or it may be a dogged run chase (like today), he has the tools and mindset for them all... seldom does he fall short of the winning total. He is always there at the end either hitting the winning runs or helping his partner hit them. Its just extraordinary. A genius ability really to be able to do it over and over....

There have been some great finishers in the past including #MichaelBevan, #JavedMiandad and #LanceKluesner (these names just came to my mind .. a few more are in that list) but the regularity with which Dhoni pulls India out of these situations is exemplary. Also shows India's top order issues to handle pressure situations in second innings of a one day match.

To add to that he has to handle captaincy and Indian media that seems to tear into its captain at every single opportunity.

Hats off #MS, a true modern great in ODIs.

Can India's 15 Man Squad Win The Cricket World Cup In 2015?

BCCI recently announced a fifteen member team for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup to be held in Australia-New Zealand in Feb-Mar 2015.

The biggest question would be: Can this team win the cup?

Sadly, DONT think so.

Unless Captain #MSDhoni finds that magical touch of his to turn this into another victory campaign from 2011. The defending champions look well short on experience, skills and adaptability to Australian and Kiwi pitches and conditions.

Although they travel and play a lot of #OneDayCricket and T20 cricket all over the world, just don't see them delivering the goods this time.

Bowling would be the biggest concern, especially quicks. Going by their performance in the on-going Test match series against Australia (they have leaked 500+ in almost every innings they have bowled). Shami, Bhuvaneshwar, Yadav, Ishant ... well not very sure there is a go-to bowler in case Dhoni needs to!

As regards spin, Ashwin should be OK but no support other than part timers like Jadeja and Raina will hurt badly. Anil Kumble has been critical at picking up just one specialist spinner and feels we should play to our strength.

Batting looks solid and there lies the best chance to win some games. Kohli, Rahane, Vijay have played good hands in this test series and will do them a lot of good in the one dayers. Not to discount Dhoni and Raina who can change games on their head in 20-30 min at the crease.

Fielding should be OK with fresh and young legs but the all-rounder mystery has hounded Indian cricket since Kapil Dev hung up his boots. Where can we get them in India?

All in all the 1983 and 2011 champions would find the going tough in this world cup. Australia, South Africa, Pakistan with their strong bowling units seem favorites to win. What do you think?

Here is the Indian squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2015
 - MS Dhoni (capt & wk)
 - Shikhar Dhawan
 - Rohit Sharma
 - Virat Kohli
 - Ajinkya Rahane
 - Suresh Raina
 - Ambati Rayudu
 - Ravindra Jadeja
 - R Ashwin
 - Akshar Patel
 - Ishant Sharma
 - Mohammed Shami
 - Umesh Yadav
 - Bhuvneshwar Kumar
 - Stuart Binny
